With the start of the new year, drivers will face new traffic restrictions in January. The usual road bans will change, and on some days, additional restrictions will be introduced. In this article, we present a list of dates on which traffic restrictions for trucks will apply in Europe in January.
January 1, Thursday
On January 1, New Year’s Day, traffic restrictions will apply in the following countries:
In Austria, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland throughout the whole day.
In France, Slovakia, Hungary, and Germany, from midnight until 10:00 p.m.
In the Czech Republic from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
In Greece, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
In Italy, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
In Croatia, from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
In Romania, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
In Slovenia, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
In Luxembourg, from midnight until 9:45 p.m.
On all working days (January 2, 5–9, 12–16, 19–23, and 26–30)
Road bans will apply in Austria, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein. They will be in force from midnight to 5:00 a.m. and from 10:00 p.m. to midnight.
On January 2 and 5, additional traffic restrictions will apply in the following countries:
In Greece, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
In Romania, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
In Slovenia, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
On January 6, additional traffic restrictions will apply in the following countries:
In Austria and Liechtenstein, throughout the whole day.
In Greece, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
In Italy, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
In Croatia, from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
In Romania, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
In Slovakia, from midnight until 10:00 p.m.
On January 7, additional traffic restrictions will apply in Romania from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
On January 23, additional traffic restrictions will apply in Romania from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
On Saturdays (January 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31)
Traffic restrictions will apply in the following countries:
In Austria, from midnight to 5:00 a.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to midnight.
In Luxembourg, from 9:30 p.m. to midnight for traffic heading toward France, and from 11:30 p.m. to midnight for traffic heading toward Germany.
In Liechtenstein and Switzerland, from midnight to 5:00 a.m. and from 10:00 p.m. to midnight.
In France and Hungary, from 10:00 p.m. to midnight.
On January 3, additional traffic restrictions will apply in Greece from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
On January 24, additional traffic restrictions will apply in Romania from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
On Sundays (January 4, 11, 18, and 25)
Traffic restrictions will apply in the following countries:
In Austria, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland, throughout the whole day.
In France, Slovakia, Hungary, and Germany, from midnight until 10:00 p.m.
In the Czech Republic, from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
In Italy, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
In Croatia, from 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
In Slovenia, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
In Luxembourg, from midnight until 9:45 p.m.
