In December, with the arrival of the most beautiful holidays of the winter season, many European countries will introduce new traffic restrictions for trucks. This article provides a list of dates on which traffic restrictions for trucks will apply in Europe during December.
On all working days (December 1–5, 8–12, 15–19, 22–26, and 29–31)
Road restrictions will apply in Austria, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein. They will be in force from midnight to 5:00 and from 22:00 to midnight.
On December 1, additional traffic restrictions will apply in Romania from 6:00 to 22:00.
On December 8, additional traffic restrictions will apply in Austria and Liechtenstein throughout the whole day, and in Italy from 9:00 to 22:00.
On December 31, New Year’s Eve, additional traffic restrictions will apply in the following countries:
In Greece from 15:00 to 21:00.
In Croatia from 15:00 to 23:00.
In France and Hungary from 22:00 to midnight.
In Luxembourg from 21:30 to midnight for traffic heading toward France, and from 23:30 to midnight for traffic heading toward Germany.
In Romania from 16:00 to 22:00.
On December 24, Christmas Eve (Wednesday)
In addition to regular working-day restrictions, additional restrictions will apply in the following countries:
In the Czech Republic from 13:00 to 22:00.
In Greece from 16:00 to 22:00.
In Croatia from 15:00 to 23:00.
In Liechtenstein (additionally) from 22:00 to midnight.
In Luxembourg from 21:30 to midnight for traffic toward France, and from 23:30 to midnight for traffic toward Germany.
In France from 22:00 to midnight.
In Romania from 16:00 to 22:00.
In Slovakia and Hungary from midnight to 22:00.
On December 25, Christmas Day (Thursday)
Traffic restrictions will apply:
In Austria, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, and Hungary throughout the whole day.
In the Czech Republic from 13:00 to 22:00.
In Greece from 16:00 to 22:00.
In Italy from 9:00 to 22:00.
In Croatia from 14:00 to 23:00.
In Poland and Slovenia from 8:00 to 22:00.
In Liechtenstein (additional) from 22:00 to midnight.
In France, Germany, and Slovakia, from midnight to 22:00.
In Romania from 6:00 to 22:00.
On December 26, the second Day of Christmas (Friday)
Traffic restrictions will apply in:
In Austria, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland throughout the whole day.
In the Czech Republic from 13:00 to 22:00.
In Greece from 16:00 to 22:00.
In Italy from 9:00 to 22:00.
In Croatia from 14:00 to 23:00.

In Poland and Slovenia from 8:00 to 22:00.
In Liechtenstein (additionally) from 22:00 to midnight.
In Hungary, Germany, and Slovakia, from midnight to 22:00.
In Romania from 6:00 to 22:00.
On Saturdays (December 6, 13, 20, and 27)
Road restrictions will apply in:
In Austria from midnight to 5:00 and from 15:00 to midnight.
In Luxembourg from 21:30 to midnight for traffic toward France, and from 23:30 to midnight for traffic toward Germany.
In Liechtenstein and Switzerland from midnight to 5:00 and from 22:00 to midnight.
In France and Hungary from 22:00 to midnight.
On Sundays (December 7, 14, 21, and 28)
Road restrictions will apply in:
In Austria, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland throughout the whole day.
In France, Slovakia, Hungary, and Germany from midnight to 22:00.
In the Czech Republic from 13:00 to 22:00.
In Italy from 9:00 to 22:00.
In Slovenia from 8:00 to 22:00.
In Luxembourg from midnight to 21:45.
On December 28, additional traffic restrictions will apply in Greece from 15:00 to 22:00.
