Traffic restrictions in Europe in August 2025

In August, due to national holidays and new local changes, several European countries will implement new additional truck traffic bans. This article provides a list of dates when traffic restrictions for trucks will apply in Europe in the month of August.

On all working days (August 1, 4–8, 11–15, 18–22, and 25–29)

Daily traffic restrictions will apply in Austria, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein. These will be in effect from midnight to 5 a.m. and from 10 p.m. to midnight.

On Fridays, additional restrictions will apply:

  • In Greece, from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

  • In the Czech Republic, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

  • In Poland, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

  • In Romania, from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

On August 1 and 8, additional restrictions will apply in Italy, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

On August 4 and 5, additional restrictions will apply in Croatia, from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

On August 14 (Assumption of Mary), additional restrictions will apply in Greece, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m, in Croatia, from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m, in Poland, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.,in Romania, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and in Luxembourg, from 9:30 p.m. to midnight.

On August 15, additional restrictions will apply in Croatia, from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., in France, from midnight to 10:00 p.m., in Luxembourg, from 9:45 p.m. to midnight., in Poland, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., in Slovenia, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., in Romania, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., in Italy, from 7:00 a.m. to midnight, and in Liechtenstein throughout the whole day.

On August 19 and 20, additional restrictions will apply in Hungary, from 10:00 p.m. to midnight.

On Saturdays (August 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30)

On Saturdays, restrictions will apply:

  • In Austria, from midnight to 5:00 a.m. and from 7:00 a.m. to midnight.

  • In the Czech Republic, from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

  • In Greece, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

  • In Italy, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

  • In Luxembourg (toward France), from 9:30 p.m. to midnight.

  • In Luxembourg (toward Germany), from 11:30 p.m. to midnight.

  • In Poland, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

  • In Liechtenstein, from midnight to 5:00 a.m. and from 10:00 p.m. to midnight.

  • In Switzerland, from midnight to 5:00 a.m. and from 10:00 p.m. to midnigh.

  • In Croatia, from 4:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

  • In France, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

  • In Romania, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

  • In Slovakia, from midnight to 7:00 p.m. (on August 23 and 30: from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.)

  • In Slovenia, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

  • In Hungary, from 3:00 p.m. to midnight.

  • In Germany, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

On Sundays (August 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31)

On Sundays, restrictions will apply:

  • In Austria, throughout the whole day.

  • In Liechtenstein, throughout the whole day.

  • In Switzerland, throughout the whole day.

  • In France, from midnight to 10:00 p.m.

  • In Slovakia, from midnight to 10:00 p.m.

  • In Hungary, from midnight to 10:00 p.m.

  • In Germany, from midnight to 10:00 p.m.

  • In the Czech Republic, from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

  • In Italy, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

  • In Greece, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

  • In Croatia, from 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

  • In Poland, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

  • In Slovenia, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

  • In Luxembourg, from midnight to 9:45 p.m.

  • In Romania, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
