The government of the Salzburg region in Austria has decided to take additional measures to reduce congestion on one of the most important motorways. For this reason, and due to ongoing roadworks, new traffic restrictions will be introduced on the A10 motorway this month.
Drivers heading towards Salzburg are prohibited from entering the L229 Affenwenger Landesstraße from the Pfarrwerfen-Werfen junction. Exemptions apply only to drivers whose final destination is located in the Salzburg region itself. Drivers heading towards this city are also not allowed to exit the A10 using the ASt Eben im Pongau exit onto the B99 Katschberg Straße. It is also forbidden to exit the “Landzeit” network points onto adjacent municipal roads unless the final trip destination is located in the Salzburg region. These bans will remain in force until 30 June, 2024.
It is also important to note that on the 14km stretch between the towns of Golling and Werfen, five tunnels - Ofenauer, Hiefler, Brentenberg, Zetzenberg and Helbersberg - are undergoing reconstruction work. These roadworks will lead to the closure of the A10 motorway on some days in May:
- From 13 May, 8 p.m., until 14 May, 5 a.m., the road will be closed between the Pongau junction and the Lueg Pass.
- From 27 May, 8 p.m., to 28 May, 5 a.m., and from 28 May, 8 p.m., to 29 May, 5 a.m., the road will be closed between Golling and the Lueg Pass.
During these closures drivers will have to use the B159 road.
