As November draws to a close, the most important and anticipated holidays of the year are approaching. However, this also means that several countries will be implementing additional road restrictions in December. This article provides a list of dates on which traffic restrictions for trucks will apply in Europe in December.
On all working days (2-6th, 9-13th, 16-20th, 23-27th and 30-31st)
Road bans will apply in Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. They will be in force from midnight to 5 a.m. and from 10 p.m. to midnight.
On 24 December, Christmas Eve, additional traffic restrictions will apply in the following countries:
In Croatia from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
In the Czech Republic from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m.
In Greece from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
In Luxembourg, from 9.30 p.m. to midnight for those travelling towards France and from 11.30 p.m. to midnight for those travelling towards Germany.
In France and Hungary from 10 p.m. to midnight.
In Romania from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
In Slovakia from midnight to 10 p.m.
On 25 December, Christmas Day, additional traffic restrictions will apply in the following countries:
In Austria, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and Hungary throughout the whole day.
In Italy from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
In Croatia from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.
In the Czech Republic from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
In France, Slovakia, and Germany from midnight to 10 p.m.
In Poland and Slovenia from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
In Romania from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
On 26 December, the second day of Christmas, additional traffic restrictions will apply in the following countries:
In Austria, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and Hungary throughout the entire day.
In Italy from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
In Croatia from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.
In the Czech Republic from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
In France, Slovakia, Hungary, and Germany from midnight to 10 p.m.
In Poland and Slovenia from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
In Romania from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
On 27 December, additional restrictions will apply in Greece from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
On 31 December, additional restrictions will apply in the following countries:
In Luxembourg throughout the entire day.
In Greece from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
In Croatia from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
In Luxembourg from 9.30 p.m. to midnight for those travelling towards France and from 11.30 p.m. to midnight for those travelling towards Germany.
In France and Hungary from 10 p.m. to midnight.
In Romania from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
On Saturdays (7, 14, 21 and 28 December)
Road bans will apply in the following countries:
In Austria from midnight to 5 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to midnight on certain roads.
In Luxembourg from 9.30 p.m. to midnight for those travelling towards France and from 11.30 p.m. to midnight for those travelling towards Germany.
In Liechtenstein and Switzerland from midnight to 5 a.m. and from 10 p.m. to midnight.
In France and Hungary from 10 p.m. to midnight.
On 28 December, additional restrictions will apply in Greece from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
On Sundays (1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 December)
Road bans will apply in the following countries:
In Austria, Liechtenstein and Switzerland throughout the entire day.
In France, Slovakia, Hungary and Germany from midnight to 10 p.m.
In the Czech Republic, from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
In Italy from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
In Slovenia from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
In Luxembourg from midnight to 9.45 p.m.
On 1 December, additional restrictions will apply in Romania from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
