Due to public holidays and religious festivities, some European countries are planning to introduce new traffic restrictions for trucks this August. Some countries will also change the rules regarding weekend road bans. This article lists the dates on which traffic restrictions for trucks will apply in Europe.
Thursday, 1 August
Due to a public holiday, road restrictions in Switzerland will be in place throughout the entire day.
Monday, 5 August
In Croatia, traffic restrictions for trucks will apply from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Wednesday, 14 August
Traffic restrictions will apply in the following countries:
In Greece and Romania on some roads from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
In Croatia from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
In Poland from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
In France, from 10 p.m. to midnight.
In Luxembourg, from 9.30 p.m. to midnight for those heading towards France and from 11.30 p.m. to midnight for those heading towards Germany.
Thursday, 15 August
Traffic restrictions due to the Assumption of Mary celebration will apply in the following countries:
In Austria and France from midnight to 10 p.m.
In Greece from 6 p.m. to midnight.
In Italy from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
In Croatia from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.
In Poland and Slovenia from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
In Liechtenstein throughout the entire day
In Luxembourg from midnight to 9.45 p.m.
In Romania from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Monday, 19 August
Road restrictions in Hungary will be in place from 10 p.m. until midnight.
Tuesday, 20 August
Road restrictions in Hungary will be in place from midnight to 10 p.m. due to a public holiday.
Thursday, 29 August
Road restrictions in Slovakia will be in place from midnight to 10 p.m.
On Fridays (2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 August)
Road restrictions will apply in the following countries:
• In the Czech Republic from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
• In Greece from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on some roads.
• In Poland from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on some roads.
• In Romania from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on some roads.
On 2 August, additional restrictions will apply in Croatia from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
On 2 and 9 August, additional restrictions will apply in Italy from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
On Saturdays (3, 10, 18 and 24 August)
Road bans will apply in the following countries:
In Austria from 7 a.m. to midnight on certain roads.
In the Czech Republic from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on all roads.
In Greece from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on some roads.
In Italy from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on some roads.
In Croatia from 4 a.m. to 2 p.m.
In Poland from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
In Luxembourg, from 9.30 p.m. to midnight for those heading towards France and from 11.30 p.m. to midnight for those heading towards Germany.
In France and Slovakia from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
In Slovenia from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on some roads.
In Romania from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
In Hungary from 3 p.m. to midnight.
In Germany from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
On Sundays (4, 11, 18 and 25 August)
Road bans will apply in the following countries:
In Austria, France, Slovakia, Hungary and Germany from midnight to 10 p.m.
In the Czech Republic from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
In Greece from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on some roads.
In Italy from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
In Croatia from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m.
In Poland and Slovenia from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
In Liechtenstein and Switzerland throughout the whole day.
In Luxembourg from midnight to 9.45 p.m.
In Romania from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
