France is about to implement some important road ban changes – in May, one of the scheduled truck bans will no longer apply, while in summer a series of restrictions are going to be implemented.
The French government has decided to lift road restrictions which were meant to be implemented on Thursday, 9 May from midnight to 10 p.m. It has also decided to introduce new road bans for trucks weighing more than 7.5 tonnes. These bans will apply on some of the Saturdays in the summer season – on 6, 20 and 27 July as well as on 3, 10, 17 and 24 August. The restrictions will apply throughout the entire metropolitan road network.
The following regions will be exempted from the bans on Saturday, 6 July:
- Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and Grand Est regions (except for the A6 and A31 motorways for those driving towards Lyon and Beaune).
- Hauts-de-France region (except for the A1 and A16 motorways for those driving towards Paris).
The following regions will be exempted from the bans on Saturday, 24 August:
- Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and Grand Est regions (except for the A6 and A31 motorways for those driving towards Paris or Luxembourg).
- Hauts-de-France region (except for the A1 and A16 motorways for those driving towards Lille or the Belgian border).
