Opening of the Colle di Tenda tunnel and Lueg bridge

In June, drivers travelling through Italy, France, and Austria will encounter significant changes – the Lueg Bridge has finally been opened, and the Colle di Tenda Tunnel will be opened soon. From now on, drivers will be able to reach their destinations more conveniently and avoid traffic jams. This article provides all the necessary information about these changes.

Opening of the Colle di Tenda tunnel

On June 27, the Colle di Tenda Tunnel, connecting the city of Cuneo in northern Italy with Nice in southern France, will be reopened. Drivers will be able to use one traffic lane, with traffic regulated by a traffic light. This tunnel is especially important for drivers travelling in the Liguria and Côte d’Azur regions.

Opening of the Lueg bridge

In June, the Lueg Bridge located in Tyrol was opened, so drivers can now more easily use the A13 highway. Currently, two traffic lanes are open in both directions; however, restrictions still apply to truck drivers. Vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tons must always use the left lane.

On certain days, trucks weighing more than 7.5 tons will be prohibited from using the bridge. These bans will mainly apply on weekends and holidays to reduce traffic congestion. The restrictions will apply on:

  • June 7, 14, 18, 21, and 28 (Saturdays) for those travelling toward Italy.

  • July 5, 12, 19, and 26 (Saturdays).

  • August 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30 (Saturdays).

  • September 6, 13, 20, and 27 (Saturdays) for those travelling toward Italy.

  • October 2 (toward Italy) and October 3 (toward Germany).
