The most fascinating Christmas markets in Germany

Every year, approximately 170,000 people visit Germany’s Christmas markets, which radiate a festive atmosphere and number over 3,000 across the country. Christmas markets, known in Germany as Weihnachtsmärkte, reflect old German holiday traditions dating back to the Middle Ages. Since most of our drivers work in Germany, we are sharing a list of Christmas markets that are truly worth visiting this year.

Bremen Christmas Market

Several thousand people visit the Bremen market each year. It is one of the most famous Christmas markets in Germany, often called the most beautiful and impressive. This year, Bremen features 170 festively decorated stalls offering food, household tools, gifts, and other goods to the visitors.

On weekdays, the market is open from 10:00 to 20:30, on Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 to 21:00, and on Sundays from 11:00 to 20:30. The market will be open until December 23.

Düsseldorf Christmas Market

During the holiday season, the entire city of Düsseldorf transforms into a Christmas capital — this year, it hosts seven separate Christmas markets spread throughout the city. Here you can visit the famous craft market and find unique gifts for yourself and your loved ones. Since Düsseldorf has the largest Japanese community in Germany, you can also taste unique Japanese dishes here.

From Sunday to Thursday, the market is open from 11:00 to 20:00, and on Fridays and Saturdays from 11:00 to 21:00. The market will run until December 31.

Nuremberg Christmas Market

The Nuremberg Christmas Market is one of the oldest in German history, with a tradition spanning around 400 years. Some stalls represent different countries, offering crafts and dishes from places such as the USA or Spain. There is also a separate children’s Christmas market with carousels, playgrounds, and other entertainment for young visitors.

The market is open daily from 10:00 to 21:00 and will run until December 24.

Munich Christmas Market

The history of the Munich Christmas Market dates back to the 14th century. There are also workshops for children where they can learn to create crafts for free.

The market is open Monday–Saturday from 10:00 to 21:00, and on Sundays from 10:00 to 20:00. It will run until December 24.

From Sunday to Wednesday, the market is open from 11:00 to 21:00, and from Thursday to Saturday from 11:00 to 22:00. It runs until December 23.
