From May until mid-October, a large number of road reconstruction works are planned to take place in Amsterdam. During these months, roadworks will be carried out on the A1, A4, and A10 highways, which will result in new road closures and traffic restrictions for drivers.
From May 9 to May 26, the first roadworks will take place on the A1 highway – a section of the road between Watergraafsmeer and Diemen will be closed. Drivers will be redirected to the A2/A9 highway, but attention should also be paid to closures in the following zones:
Exit S111 towards Almere/Hengelo.
Exit S112 towards Bijlmermeer/Gaasperdam.
Exit S111 from Amsterdam.
Almere-Amsterdam intersection.
On the A10 highway, in the section between Watergraafsmeer and the Amstel junction, roadworks will be carried out in two stages – from June 26 to July 12 and from September 19 to October 6. Drivers will be redirected to the A9 highway.
The A4 highway will also be under construction in two separate periods. The first stage will take place from July 11 to 24. During the roadworks, drivers will be limited to one traffic lane and must observe a 70 km/h speed limit. The second stage will occur from July 24 to August 5 – during this time, traffic will also be limited to one lane, and a 70 km/h speed limit will apply.
Throughout all reconstruction work, drivers can expect their travel time to be extended by 30 to 60 minutes.
