This autumn the news about Denmark changing its road toll system in 2025 became well known. The currently used vignettes will be replaced by a mileage-based tax. However, it turns out that the tariff rates decided in autumn will be changing too – they will be highly decreased.
From the beginning of 2025, the following toll rates will apply to heavy weight vehicles:
| Weight of the vehicle | CO2 emission class | Tariff outside of low emission zones (DKK/km) | Tariff in the low emission zones (DKK/km) |
| From 12t to 18t | 1 class | 0.86 | 0.43 |
| 2 class | 0.79 | 0.40 | |
| 3 class | 0.69 | 0.35 | |
| 4 class | 0.46 | 0.23 | |
| 5 class | 0.13 | 0.07 | |
| From 18t to 32t | 1 class | 1.00 | 0.50 |
| 2 class | 0.92 | 0.46 | |
| 3 class | 0.82 | 0.41 | |
| 4 class | 0.53 | 0.27 | |
| 5 class | 0.13 | 0.07 | |
| Over 32t | 1 class | 1.10 | 0.55 |
| 2 class | 1.01 | 0.51 | |
| 3 class | 0.91 | 0.46 | |
| 4 class | 0.58 | 0.29 | |
| 5 class | 0.13 | 0.07 |
In some cases, the tariff rates will decrease 3-4 times from the previously decided value. If you wish to assess and compare the tariff differences, you can find the previously decided tariffs in this article. Note that in low emission zones the listed tariffs will be accumulated with the ones that apply in areas located outside of low emission zones.
We remind you that there will be several ways to pay for tolls in Denmark. Drivers will be able to use the services provided by electronic toll payment companies (e.g. Telepass, Brobizz or ØresundPAY). Drivers will also be able to purchase a digital KmToll ticket. The fine system will not be changing – drivers will receive a fine of DKK 4,500 (around €600) if they fail to pay their tolls.
