Road bans in Europe in February 2024

In February 2024, European countries will be implementing different road restrictions for trucks. Some of them will be the usual weekend bans, while others will be new bans introduced due to public holidays. This article lists the dates on which traffic restrictions for trucks will apply in Europe.

February 1st, Monday 

In Liechtenstein, road closures will be in place throughout the entire day due to the Candlemas festivities.

February 8th, Thursday

In Slovenia, road closures will be in place from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.  due to a public holiday.

On Saturdays (February 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th) 

Saturday bans in the month of February will be in place in the following countries:

  • In Austria from 7 a.m to 3 p.m. on the A12 and A13 motorways. Other closures will apply from 3 p.m. until midnight.
  • In France and Hungary from 10 p.m. to midnight.
  • In Luxembourg, from 9:30 p.m. to midnight for those heading towards France and from 11:30 p.m. to midnight for those heading towards Germany.

On Sundays (February 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th)

The following countries will be subject to road closures on Sundays in February:

  • In Austria, Germany, France and Slovakia from midnight to 10 p.m.
  • In the Czech Republic, from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • In Italy from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • In Luxembourg from midnight to 9:45 p.m. 
  • In Liechtenstein and Switzerland throughout the entire day.
  • In Slovenia from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • In Hungary, from midnight to 10 p.m. (this prohibition does not apply to EURO 3 and higher categories of trucks operating in the international transport sector).
