Protesting farmers are blocking roads in Spain

Farmers' protests in many European countries have now spread to Spain. Tractors are blocking traffic in Barcelona city center and tyres are being burnt on the roads. Some transport sector employees are also planning to join the ranks of farmers this week.

In Spain, farmers are demanding higher prices for the agricultural products that they sell, more support from the European Union and better living conditions. Protesters are also blocking roads with heavy vehicles, which are currently blocking traffic in the following areas:

  • A-4 motorway near the town of Aranjuez.
  • A-92 motorway near La Roda de Andalucía.
  • A-2 road at Bell-Lloc d'Urgell.
  • A-3 road in the towns of Utiel and Khiva.
  • A-4 road in Villanueva del Rey.
  • A- 4 road in Puente Viejo and Esicha.
  • A-5 road in Maqueda and Calypo Fado.
  • A-6 road in the town of Paradores de Castrogonzalo.
  • A-7 road in the town of La Alcudia.
  • A-30 road in Los Martinez del Puerto.
  • A-42 road in the towns of Toledo and Veredilla. 
  • A-48 road near Chiclana.
  • A-62 road located between Tordesillas and Villamarciel.
  • A-92 road in Albolote and La Salada.
  • A-92G road in Bobadilla.
  • A-308 in El Frage.
  • A-384 road in Coto de Borna.
  • CA-33 road in the town of Tres Caminos.
  • CM-42 road in the municipality of Madridejos.
  • N-340 road in Virgen de Gracia.
  • N-432 road located between Badajoz, Espejo and Alcala.
  • RM-15 road in Cañada Hermosa.

Protests by transport workers in Spain are also expected to start this week. These protests are due to start on Saturday, 10th of February. Self-employed lorry drivers and workers from small transport companies will be joining the ranks of the protesting farmers.
