In northern Italy, some roads have been closed due to the intense flood season. The region of Emilia-Romagna located in the north-east of Italy has been affected the most. Several important highways have been closed here. One of them is the second longest highway in Italy, the A14 motorway, which connects the cities of Bologna and Taranto. Due to the dangerous weather conditions, some sections of this highway have been completely closed.

The A14 road runs from northern Italy to its southern part along the Adriatic Sea and connects five regions: Emilia-Romagna, Marche, Abruzzo, Molise, and Puglia. Due to heavy flooding, two sections of this road have been closed: from Bologna San Lazzaro to northern Cesena and from northern Rimini to Faenza. Drivers heading north on the A14 are supposed to take the exit at the Rimini junction.

The D14 located in the area of the city of Ravenna has also been closed. Driving on it is prohibited in all directions. Heavy vehicles have also been banned from using the section of E45 road connecting the cities of Sansepolcro and Ravenna. Truck drivers traveling north on this road must exit the motorway at the Sansepolcro exit and continue to drive on the SS73. Alternatively, it is also possible to use the A1 highway.

The conditions caused by these floods are only getting worse - the number of accidents is increasing, eight people have already died, numerous buildings have been flooded. It is predicted that the rains will continue until the end of May. Given this, it is likely that the neighboring regions of Emilia-Romagna may also suffer from disastrous weather conditions. The neighboring Marche region has already experienced severe flooding, with roads turning into streams in some towns such as Pesaro. Therefore, it is likely that the situation will only worsen.
