The new Mercedes-Benz eActros LongHaul truck

Mercedes-Benz has released a new model of an electric truck - the eActors LongHaul. This model first appeared in 2022 but large-scale production and sales should begin in the second half of this year. The Mercedes-Benz eActros LongHaul is an updated and improved version of the eActros model. The new truck is not only environmentally friendly but also allows to complete the longest distance drive on a single charge out of all the electric trucks created by Mercedes-Benz.

The Mercedes-Benz eActros LongHaul model has 3 battery packs. With a full charge, this vehicle can travel up to 500 km. What is also interesting is that the trailer of this truck should also have a battery and be fully powered by electricity. This electric trailer should allow the driver to travel up to 800 km on a single charge. The batteries used in this truck are created using high-level technology which ensures their longevity and durability. According to the company, this model matches very high durability requirements and can be used for more than 10 years with a total mileage of approximately 1.2 million km.

Recently, this truck model was tested in severe winter conditions in Finland. During the test, it was observed whether the cold and difficult weather conditions harm the battery and the electric drivetrain of the truck. The truck was driven on snowy and icy roads at a temperature of more than -25 degrees. Particular attention was paid to the resilience of thermal and energy management systems. During the test, it was noticed that in cold weather conditions, this truck travels a shorter distance than usual on a single charge. However, the cab of this model heats up faster compared to diesel-powered trucks. This test is very important and allows to ensure that even under difficult driving conditions this vehicle remains operational and works perfectly.
